Malleable (in human terms) can either mean being able to adapt to changes or the trait of being influenced easily. This paper discusses about the implications of being malleable as it relates to personality.Pros of being MalleableCharles Darwin should change his theory on evolution. Survival is not about who the strongest specie is, rather, survival is about who can adapt easily to changes in the environment. The positive side of being malleable means that a person can get through with any obstacle that he or she faces.A malleable person can simply ‘contort’ his or her personality to suit the changes that happen in his or her life. Whatever these obstacles are, being malleable allows us to come up with different strategies on how we can cope with the changes. A malleable personality means that we are capable of dealing with difficult people or circumstances.We may need to adjust to avoid conflict with other people. Sometimes, people with culture alien from us become part of our lives, in work, school, or even in the family, anywhere in the society that has some sort of connection with us.As a sign of respect, we may have to restrain ourselves from speaking out loud about certain practices that we might find weird or even wrong. No one can explain the literally unprecedented Harry Potter phenomenon, starting with J. K. Rowling, now 35, whose life has been changed utterly by the product of her imagination. Seven years ago, she was the single mother of a small daughter, living in a two-room flat in Edinburgh, listening to mice skittering behind walls. Now she is internationally famous and earning, according to various estimates, somewhere in the range of $30 million to $40 million a year. Once, during a bad patch, she dreaded the hostile looks she would attract while lining up at the local post office to claim her weekly income support check. Now however she still gets lots of stares, but in the reverse order (Neil 45). Yes, it true J. K. Rowling life has chanced and her books has been the hottest commodity for commercialization since forever. THESIS: There has been a lot of controversy regarding the Harry Potter book series, the scope of the controversy range in conversations from schools, churches, board rooms, colleges and universities. Some of the discussions have been positive and some negative, but mostly what everyone is saying is that the Harry Potter book series will become a classic, because when compared to other children literature books they are just good or better than most, if not all of the other children’s books. In this essay I will prove the point that the Harry Potter books have all that it takes to become part of the literary canon. I will compare the Potter books to five children literature books to determine their literary authentic. I will look at the Potter books from a Philosophy prospective to give a clear concept about the books. I will compare opinions of lay persons, and scholars, and lastly I will discuss the affects that commercialization have had on the books. The books that I have chosen to compare the Potter books are: â€Å"The Chronicles of Narnia,† â€Å"Alice in Wonderland,† and Through the Looking Glass,† Hackberry Finn,† and â€Å"the Wizard of Oz, I have chosen these five books to compare to the Potter books, because these books are books that have endured for centuries. First I will compare the Harry Potter books with â€Å"The Chronicles of Narnia†. The Chronicles of Narnia is a series of seven fantasy novels written by C. S. Lewis. They are considered classis of children’s literature and are perhaps the author’s best known work. The books that make up the Chronicles of Narnia consist of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, The Voyage of the Trader, The Silver Chair, the Magician’s Nephew, and The Battle. The Chronicles of Narnia are great children literature books because they contains Christian themes, â€Å"These books may also be used to teach children about spirituality, and are often times viewed as religious allegories. These books teach child about good verse evil, and at the time of their publication they were very popular books, and still are today. Like the Chronicles of Narnia, the Harry Potter books also teach children about good verse evil. But these books like the Potter books have had plenty of criticism. There were certain Christians and Christian organizations who felt that The Chronicles of Narnia promotes ‘soft sell paganism and occultism†, because of the recurring pagan themes and the supposedly heretical depictions of Christ as an anthropomorphic lion. Satyrs, fauns, centaurs, dwarves, werewolves, giants, and even the pagan god Bacchus and the Maenads are depicted in a positive light, when they are distinctly pagan motifs (Smith 10). Although, there was all this criticism about the Chronicles it wasn’t enough to prevent these books from becoming classic. Secondly, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is a great children literature book. This book is considered one of the first books created solely to amuse children. It is witty, playful, full of clever conceits and genuine comedy and downright entertaining. But what makes it better than the Harry Potter books? Or is it? No! The Harry Potter books are witty, with genuine comedy, full of clever conceits and downright entertaining, also the Harry Potter books are read by children, young adults, and adults as well. Even children who as a rule are skeptical of reading are reading the Harry Potter books. Should this alone be reason enough to allow the Harry Potter books to classify as a classic? I think so, but let’s continue with our comparison of the other children books (Carol 3-10). The third comparison to the Harry Potter books will be Lewis Carol’s Through the Looking Glass. Just like Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Through the Looking Glass is a great children’s story. This book is a continuation of the story of Alice in Wonderland, and over the years it has amused and entertained many children, but what makes its better than Harry Potter? Is it really better than Harry? Before we answer the question lets continue with our comparison of the next book (Carol 6-10). The fourth comparison will be The â€Å"Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. In this novel a young boy is in search of freedom and courage. I believe that this book became a classic because it was one of the first American books in which a black character is portrayed as someone to be emulated, in this case serving as the voice of reason for a cast-off urchin and a middle class white boy. There was plenty of criticism about this book, because it used the word â€Å"nigger† throughout. Many people feel that the word’s racist and discriminatory connotations make it unacceptable to use any where, and particularly in a book aimed at child. Others, however, claim that to call the book racist because of this usage is to miss its point. Again, â€Å"The Adventures of huckleberry Finn is a very nice story, full of fantasy, but it has nothing that the Harry Potter is missing. The fifth comparisons will be the Wizard of Oz. The Wizard of Oz, created the popular political fable rather than having Christian inspiration uplift, with a protagonist who is an admirable, individualistic, and rather selfish child rather than a cooperative do-gooder. However, Baum at the same time retained the dominant structure of nineteenth (twentieth century fantasy and with it the neo imperialism that assumed the inherent superiority of certain racial types. The Wizard of Oz is a great children literature with lots of fantasy (Baum 28). Development of fantasy itself owes a great deal to children’s literature, but this does not mean that fantasy is only for children. However, the Harry Potter books have made it trendy to ready fantasy again, but I think it’s worth reminding ourselves of the great tradition that preceded Rowling’s books and helped children to grow up realizing that it is okay to be imaginative and to continue to dream. The Harry Potter books have all the fantasy and intrigue as all the other books and more beside. Each of the books that I have named were usually books that were read by adults to children as a bedtime story, where as the Harry Potter books are being used for the same purpose and more. Not only are parents reading the Potter books to their child as bedtime stories, but in addition they are reading them, themselves for the sake of getting lost and carried away in the magical world of Harry Potter.

By his talking about how the town pities Miss Emily it makes you feel pity for her also. The narrator plays a sort of antagonist in the story with his opinions of Miss Emily. If you believe everything the narrator tells you in the story it allows him to skew the story in any way in which he seems fit. By making you listen to the narrators thoughts Faulkner makes you listen to his own thoughts. For example, the following line, Then we said, She will persuade him yet, because Homer himself had remarkedhe liked men, and it was known that he drank with the younger men in the Elks Clubthat he was not a marrying man(Faulkner) is interpreted quite different from an objective line such as Homer drank with the younger men in the Elks Club, and wasnt the marrying type . Using the results of these calculations we determine the Heisenberg-Dirac-Van Vleck (HDVV)  Hamiltonian with anisotropic exchange couplings parameters linking the Cr ions with predominant  spin density. The energy pattern was found from the effective HDVV Hamiltonian acting in the  restricted spin space of the Cr ions by the application of the irreducible tensor operators (ITO)   technique. Comparison of the energy pattern with that obtained with the anisotropic exchange  models conventionally used for the analysis of this system and with the results of non-collinear  spin structure calculations show that our complex investigations provides a good description of the  pattern of the spin levels and spin structures of the nanomagnetic trimer Cr3. The results are   discussed in the view of a general problem of spin frustration related to the orbital degeneracy of  the antiferromagnetic ground state.   PACS numbers: I. INTRODUCTION Information technologies provide very interesting challenges  and an extremely wide playground in which scientists  working in materials science, chemistry, physics and  nano-fabrication technologies may find stimuli for novel  ideas. Curiously, the nanometre scale is the molecular  scale. So we may wonder whether, how or simply which  functional molecules can be regarded in some ways as  possible components of nanodevices. The goal is ambitious: it is not just a matter to store information in a 3dmetal  trimer on a non-magnetic substrate, but we may  think to process information with a trimer and then to  communicate information at the supramolecules containg  from magnetic 3d-metal trimer on a surface. Spins are alternative complementary to charges as degrees  of freedom to encode information. Recent examples,  like for instance the discovery and application of Giant  magnetoresistance in Spintronics, have demonstrated  the efficient use of spins for information technologies. Moreover, spins are intrinsically quantum entities and  they have therefore been widely investigated in the field  of quantum-information processing. Molecular nanomagnets  are real examples of finite spin chains (1D) or clusters  (0D), and therefore they constitute a new benchmark  for testing models of interacting quantum objects. New physics of molecular magnets feeds hopes of certain  prospective applications, and such hopes pose the  problem of understanding, improving, or predicting desirable  characteristics of these materials. The applications  which come into discussion are, for instance, magnetic  storage (one molecule would store one bit, with  much higher information storage density than accessible  with microdomains of present-day storage media or magnetic  nanoparticles of next future). In order to exploit  the quantum features for information processing, molecular  spin clusters have to fulfil some basic requirements. Magnetic transition metal nanostructures on nonmagnetic  substrates have attracted recently large attention  due to their novel and unusual magnetic properties[2,3]. The supported clusters experience both the  reduction of the local coordination number, as in free  clusters, as well as the interactions with the electronic  degrees of freedom of the substrate, as in embedded clusters.   The complex magnetic behavior is usually associated  with the competition of several interactions, such  as interatomic exchange and bonding interactions, and  in some cases noncollinear effects, which can give rise to  several metastable states close in energy. The ground  state can therefore be easily tuned by external action  giving rise to the switching between different states. In recent years, entanglement has attracted the attention  of many physicists working in the area of quantum  mechanics [1, 2]. This is due to the ongoing research in  the area of quantum information [3]. Theoretical studies  are also important in the context of spin interactions  inside two structured reservoirs [9] such as single magnetic  molecule (SMM) and metal cluster on nonmagnetic  surface. Cr is unique among the transition-metal  adatoms, because its half-filled valence configuration  (3d54s1) yields both a large magnetic moment and strong  interatomic bonding leading to magnetic frustration. We  apply our method to Cr trimers deposited on a Au(111)  surface and the trinuclear hydroxo-bridged chromium  ammine complex [Cr3(NH3)10(OH)4]Br5  · 3H2O. Low-lying excited states of a magnetic system are generally  described in terms of a general spin-Hamiltonian. For a magnetic system with many spin sites, this phenomenological  Hamiltonian is written as a sum of pairwise  spin exchange interactions between adjacent spin  sites in molecule and surface. In the present work we study entanglement between  the spin states in the spin spectrum. In our model, a  spin state interact with a continuum of the spin structure  at interval temperature 0 – 300 K, and entanglement  properties between the spin states in spin structure are  considered. Using global entanglement as a measure of  entanglement, we derive a pair of distributions that can  be interpreted as densities of entanglement in terms of  all the eigenvalue of the spin spectrum. This distribution  can be calculated in terms of the spectrum of spin excitation  of cluster surface and supramolecule. With these  new measures of entanglement we can study in detail  entanglement between the spin modes in spin structure. The method developed here, in terms of entanglement  distributions, can also be used when considering various  types of structured reservoirs [..]. II. THE THEORETICAL APPROACH In order to give a theoretical description of magnetic  dimer we exploit the irreducible tensor operator (ITO)  technique [ITO]. Let us consider a spin cluster of arbitrary  topology formed from an arbitrary number of magnetic  sites, N, with local spins S1, S2,, SN which, in  general, can have different values. (2) The first term H0 is the Heisenberg-Dirac Hamiltonian,  which represents the isotropic exchange interaction, HBQ  is the biquadratic exchange Hamiltonian, HAS is the antisymmetric  exchange Hamiltonian,and HAN represents  the anisotropic exchange interaction. The terms of the  spin-Hamiltonian above can be written in terms of the  ITO’s. Both the Heisenberg–Dirac and biquadratic exchange  are isotropic interactions. In fact, the corresponding  Hamiltonians can be described by rank-0 tensor operators  and thus have non zero matrix elements only  with states with the same total spin quantum number  S (ΔS,ΔM=0). The representative matrix can be decomposed  into blocks depending only on the value of S  and M. All anisotropic terms are described by rank-2  tensor operators which have non zero matrix elements  between state with ΔS=0, ±1, ±2 and their matrices can  not be decomposed into blocks depending only on total  spin S in account of the S–mixing between spin states  with different S. The single-ion anisotropy can be written  in terms of rank-2 single site ITO’s [ITO]. Finally,  the antisymmetric exchange term is the sum of ITO’s of  rank-1. The ITO technique has been used to design the MAGPACK  software [ITO1], a package to calculate the energy  levels, bulk magnetic properties, and inelastic neutron  scattering spectra of high nuclearity spin clusters that  allows studying efficiently properties of nanoscopic magnets. A. Calculation of the magnetic properties Once we have the energy levels, we can evaluate different  thermodynamic properties of the system as magnetization,  magnetic susceptibility, and magnetic specific  heat. Because anisotropic interactions are not included,  the magnetic properties of the anisotropic system do not  depend on the direction of the magnetic field. For this  reason one can consider the magnetic field directed along  arbitrary axis Z of the molecular coordinate frame that  is chosen as a spin quantization axis. Entanglement in N-spin system Entanglement has gained renewed interest with the development  of quantum information science. The problem  of measuring entanglement is a vast and lively field of research  in its own. In this section we attempt to solve the  problem of measuring entanglement in the N-spin cluster  and supramolecules systems. Based on the residual  entanglement [9] (Phys. Rev. A 71, 044301 (2005)), we  present the global entanglement for a N-spin state for the  collective measures of multiparticle entanglement. This  measures introduced by Meyer andWallach[..]. The MeyerWallach  (MW) measure written in the Brennen form (G.K.Brennen,Quantum.Inf.Comp.,v.3,619 (2003)) is: Q(ψ) = 2(1 − 1 N ÃŽ £N k=1 Tr[Ï 2 k]) (11) where Ï k is the reduced density matrix for k-th qubit.   The problem of entanglement between a spin states in  N-spin systems is becoming more interesting when considering  clusters or molecules with a spectral gap in their  densities of states. For quantifying the distribution of  entanglement between the individual spin eigenvalues in  spin structure of N-spin system we use the density of entanglement. The density of entanglement ÃŽ µ(à Ã‚ µ_, à Ã‚ µ_, à Ã‚ µ)dà Ã‚ µ gives the entanglement between the spin eigenvalue à Ã‚ µ_ and spin eigenvalue à Ã‚ µ_ with in an energy interval à Ã‚ µ_ to à Ã‚ µ_ + dà Ã‚ µ_. In this section we discuss how it  behaves at finite temperature of thermal entanglement. The states in N-spin system describing a system in thermal  equilibrium states, are determined by the Generalized  spin-Hamiltonian and thermal density matrix Ï (T) = exp(−Hspin/kT) Z(HZ) (15) where Z(HZ) is the partition function of the N-spin system. This can be  done by using specific operators–the so-called entanglement  witnesses–whose expectation value is always positive  if the state Ï  is factorizable. It is quite remarkable  that some of these entanglement witnesses coincide  with well-known magnetic observables, such as energy  or magnetic susceptibility χ = dM/dB. In particular,  the magnetic susceptibility of N spins s, averaged over  three orthogonal spatial directions, is always larger than  a threshold value if their equilibrium state Ï  is factorizable: ÃŽ £ g χg > Ns/kBT [EW]. This should not be surprising,  since magnetic susceptibility is proportional to  the variance of the magnetization, and thus it may actually  quantify spin.spin correlation. The advantage in  the use of this criterion consists in the fact that it does  not require knowledge of the system Hamiltonian, provided  that this commutes with the Zeeman terms corresponding  to the three orthogonal orientations of the  magnetic field ÃŽ ± = x, y, z. As already mentioned, in  the case of the Cr3 trimer, the effective Hamiltonian includes,  besides the dominant Heisenberg interaction J ∠¼118 meV , smaller anisotropic terms G ∠¼ 1.1 meV and  D ∠¼ 0.18 meV , due to which the above commutation relations  are not fulfilled. This might, in principle, result in  differences between the magnetic susceptibility and the  entanglement witness WE (see Fig.). She is trapped in a world that is spiraling quickly into doom. Laura lives in the St. Louis of the Depression with her restless brother Tom and her half-mad, overbearing mother Amanda. Her father left the family for a life on the road. "He worked for the telephone-company and fell in love with long distances." This left Tom as the only breadwinner in the family and her mother in a desperate and touched condition. Tom got a job in a warehouse. He deeply resented this and craved freedom and adventure. He would disappear every night to go to the movies to find his release. This would soon be not enough, though, and both Laura and her mother sensed this. The mother constantly hounded Tom. She would continually point out every flaw he had. They would erupt into fierce arguments that made it difficult to tell if she was deliberating with Tom or his absent father. Her mother was from the south; a place called Blue Mountain. She was a beautiful girl there and had a lot of gentleman callers. She pined bitterly over the loss of this place and time and the poor choice she made in husbands. Even if Laura had no physical defects it would have been hard for her to succeed given these circumstances. At the beginning of the play Laura is wrapped up in her own little world of glass creatures and phonograph records. She is afraid of people and afraid of the world. She is like one of the inceptions in her glass menagerie. She is a thing of fragile beauty in a hard world. She doubts herself and her abilities. Her mother, though, is determined to see that her daughter does not become a victim of her situation. Her mother tries, almost too hard, to see her daughter through. It is, however, through her mother's attempts that we see the temporary metamorphosis of Laura. In scene two we find out that Laura's mother has discovered that she has dropped out of business school.

Learning Disability Resourses for College Students Trying to decide which college or university best suits them is challenging enough for the average student when applying to colleges. It is even more difficult for students with learning disabilities such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) due to their specialized concerns. Students with learning disabilities have to search for a school that has the usual opportunities and amenities that fit their personality while also providing the services required by their learning disability and style. The student also needs to find a school where the people providing these services will be dedicated to helping them and fighting for the student’s rights under the American Disabilities Act. Departments such as the Disabilities Recourse Center (DRC) at Northeastern University are set up to provide these types of services to the school’s student population with disabilities. The DRC provides services to students with physical disabilities like hearing and sight impairment as well as neurological learning disabilities. The DRC is a cooperative entity that helps both the students and their professors in ensuring that the student receives the accommodations they require. It takes dedicated professionals to provide these services. One of the most dedicated staffers of the DRC is Dean Ruth Bork, the director of the DRC. â€Å"I have been working with disabled students since 1974. Since much of my time is involved in resolving challenges that are difficult and plentiful, I usually don’t have much time to think about the satisfaction and rewards of the job,† said Dean Bork. As a Northeastern student with a documented case of ADHD who had not worked closely with the DRC, which has been providing services since 1978, I was interested in investigating what services the center provided and how they worked while also taking a look at some of the services provided by our cross-town rivals Boston University for students with learning disabilities such as mine. The theories of psychoanalysis, primarily identified with Sigmund Freud, can be applied to imaginative literature and art in general, in order to study their manifest and latent content, in the same way as Freud studied dreams. Literature clearly lends itself to such a study, since, like dreams, the most significant meaning often lies below the conscious surface narrative of a text. Feminist approaches towards literature are concerned with the portrayal of female characters. Lawrence's representation of women in his work has been admired by many readers for it's insight, women among them, and has been strongly attacked by others for its prejudiced male perspective. Classic psychoanalytic criticism applied the theories either to the author, or his or her characters, which were seen as internalised images that have come from the author's unconscious. The high autobiographical content of Sons and Lovers lends itself to this type of study. Moral Truth What is Moral truth? In Sam Harris’ book â€Å"The Moral Landscape†, he explains his ideas on moral truth. He explains that moral truth is so complex because of personal whim, and cultural influence.
